11 Amendments

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Texas Politics | Posted on 21-10-2009

As a conservative, amendments are extremely important to Texas. While I hear many say if you are conservative you have to vote this way on each amendment my gut tells me to research it first. My State Representative spoke recently in my county. As he spoke about what he had done, he would reference that Texans had passed an amendment for it. A few times I wiggled in my chair, funny I didn’t remember that being on the ballot or how Texas had used the power.

It was that night that I decided his voter bulletin I would never use again. If he didn’t explain it well enough, I am not going to rely on him.

I am going to be doing a series of “information” pieces on the amendments. Many have already said certain things that concern me about a few. Perry, Texas Farm Bureau and Kay Bailey Hutchison are all for Prop 11? But Terri Hall and TURF are against it, I need to get clarification on what power it gives the state.

I rely heavily right now on watchdog groups, and personally that is where I plan on finding the information. I will not tell you how to vote, but I do plan on exposing what may or may not be evident. After listening to some of things I had given Texas power to do I will no longer rely on conservatives alone. I need real information, not what some politician wants to tell me.

Choice

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Texas Governor | Posted on 18-09-2009

No this isn’t about Pro life or Pro Choice. This is about Choice. I live in a very yellow dog Democrat county. As a Precinct Election Judge I have heard for years that there is no choice in office. When you have one Candidate on the ticket it is really hard to vote against them. You can not vote, but voting against them is hard.

That has been one of my biggest concerns about anointing Rick Perry as the Republican choice in Governor before the Primary. It is hard to have nobody you want to vote for, since I have spent the last decade doing it locally. You want your vote to count.

Having a Governor Dog Fight is good for Texas, if handled correctly. We get to decide whom we like most. Then the best candidate goes against a Democrat candidate in the general election. Many Republicans that are rural grassroot supporters feel like Perry left us behind a long time ago with TTC. Many homeschool parents, and many conservative parents feel with the attempted HPV mandate was one of the worst things you could do as a Governor. Those concerns are real, and relevant. If Rick Perry thinks they aren’t, he is wrong.

Do I wish Kay was pro-life, you will never know how much. But I do know one thing the Senate is the worst place to keep a pro choice person, she is better off in Texas than in the Senate. My deepest concern about this race is Perry is willing to keep the Senate place pro-choice, when he has Michael Williams that is pro-life he could place in the next day if he chose to.

Perry seems unwilling to do the best for Texas in my opinion. Whether it is TTC, eminent domain, HPV mandates, appointments to Universities or the WashingtonKay website. His only focus is winning for Governor.

I am not surprised he has lost confidence with Republicans, he backtracked on secession right after speaking. Many conservative working women are backing Kay, they see her as woman that wants to make Texas better.

The poll saying they are neck in neck, is good news, because no one can rest until the primary is over. Real issues are out there, real differences, real party platform planks needs to be mulled over.

My hope is the real debates, the real issues can come out. The name calling can stop and the actual race can begin. I will be forever grateful to two women Kay Bailey Hutchison and Debra Medina, for making this Governor race a real race. It gives me hope that change even in Texas is possible.

Perry Cost Review

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Texas Governor | Posted on 10-09-2009

Now that unemployment in Texas is at a sixteen year high. Perry is looking into cutting costs at higher education facilities.

I find it ironic, that during an election primary contest Perry now realizes that costs may be up. They have been steadily rising for years, all the years he has been Governor. He has made appointments that have had strings on them in three Texas universities but that doesn’t seem to bother him. What bothers him is he has finally figured out Texans are paying too much for education?

Here are the facts Sixteen year high in unemployment. Look HERE. Despite what Perry is saying about people moving to Texas, there are many Texans out of work.

Perry has ordered a review of what the higher education costs are, they will be presented in 2010. Look HERE.

Now compare that to Kay Bailey Hutchison who has been talking about education for months.

Don’t Cross Perry

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Texas Governor | Posted on 05-09-2009

If I heard that phrase once I have heard a hundred times. Perry is a competitor, he is a dirty campaigner. He has asked his staff to create at least 10-20 twitter accounts that I know of. He is without regard for what he does in order to win.

When it comes to a town, a voter, a university, or a former supporter Perry will not allow people to form their own opinions. Nope no way, if Perry places you, you had better tow the line.

When a regent from Texas Tech University had the gall of introducing Kay Bailey Hutchison, he was asked to resign.

Lo and behold this is not the first university Perry has used undue influence at. Many Aggie Alumni have said that his appointments to A & M have lowered some of the achievements of the engineering department. Details are HERE.

Then you have University of Texas, where he “encouraged” a Regent to resign.Details of that fiasco are HERE.

Now you are going to tell me I have no proof. Perry is smart, he knows people like me will be looking. He has made sure everyone is quiet. That is his history, that is his style and that is his politics. This is what he does, he is a bully. You tow the line or you are gone. He has goons to do the dirty work so his hands are clean. Perry’s twitter account didn’t attack me, but his “hired goons” twitter accounts did. Since I personally spoke to the Republican Party of Texas, I know Perry knew about it, and the goons were doing exactly what Perry hired them for. Intimidation.

Read this article and ask yourself why all of the sudden a few days after Mark Griffin introduces Kay he resigns. One word Perry.

Here is the article. Look HERE.

Finally after thinking about it Griffin comfirmed what I was sure of. Look HERE.

What Perry doesn’t know how to deal with is someone like me, or the Stop Corridor Watch. See money and power mean nothing to us. The only thing we care about is illuminating Perry for who Perry is.

Texas is worth fighting for. My family settled Dallas, I came from two family of immigrants to Texas but I cannot be bought. That idea is foreign to Perry, he doesn’t get the live and let Texas live.

Perry is nothing more than a Bully taking Texas Tax Dollars.
