Rick Perry Comes Clean

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Rick Perry, Texas Governor | Posted on 24-10-2009

So as Terri Hall said Prop #11 does not keep people like Perry from taking land for whatever use they want for it. This video is revealing because at the end he speaks of water in San Antonio. The water he may be referring to is our private water in my county. On land that the state doesn’t own, but several private land owners have spent a lot of money developing into perfect grazing and farm land. San Antonio is the one growing, let them figure it out. Our tax base will not be helped if we are robbed of potential profit in a county where the unemployment rate is over 10%. That is not protecting Texans, that is robbing Texans.

Is TTC Dead?

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Texas Governor, TxDOT | Posted on 16-10-2009

I highly doubt it. Matter of fact I think like many others Perry has made other plans of how to do TTC. Remember he only won with 39% the last race, during that one he wouldn’t back down. He then just last year made sure Ted Houghton stay on board of TxDOT.

There are ways to make Texans think TTC is dead but not be dead. I think he is doing sections at a time, so that all of Texas cannot band together. Remember I 69 is being done by Cintra Zachry, as well as completed toll roads built by Cintra Zachry.

I like many others will not believe TTC is dead until Perry is no longer our Governor and TxDOT is gutted and filleted. Cronyism is alive and well in Texas and especially in TxDOT. Now I am sure I will be painted as a moderate or an extremist who just cannot trust reality. But remember how many times I have been told it is dead only to find Rick Perry found a way to revive it.

He is a conniving man at best, at worst I cannot say what I think of him.

He is not who he seems to be, considering how many times he has said he is pro eminent domain, until it means he wants to use it. I don’t trust him any farther than I can throw him.

Here is a clip that explains the continuing questions about TTC.

Feeding the World

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Texas Politics | Posted on 13-10-2009

Producers Co-op has a yearly dinner in College Station each year. Nothing can say what it is like to see Reed Arena filled to the brim with ranchers and farmers all thinking a couple of things, how great is the BBQ, how did we do this year, and last but not least what do we need to know to protect our future in farming and ranching.

Property rights are first and foremost on most farmers and ranchers, because they know if you take their land they cannot produce food. Whether the big city dweller gets that or not is a huge concern. If you think we pay too much for energy and oil, think about only being able to purchase foreign food instead of a American grown. The cost would skyrocket for every household, and as with toys foreign countries have few regulations that make food safe. American farm producers have many strict guidelines that keep our food safe, you will not find the type of pesticides allowed in China allowed here.

This is the reality of our future if the urban dwellers allow eminent domain and water issues to go through in the state of Texas. We cannot water our cattle, irrigate crops if able or farm land we don’t have. That farm feeds you whether you get it or not.

I am stubborn enough to tell you like it is. Life and food as you know it will never be the same if urbanites continue to think they can get great food by slamming the ranchers and farmers that feed them.

Unfit Doctors in Texas

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Rick Perry, Texas Governor | Posted on 12-10-2009

When I first read about this I was sure my brain was not reading it correctly. Texas Doctors have been arrested and convicted of sexual misconduct but still practice in Texas.

Matter of fact we are so lax on those practicing medicine with convictions many doctors who cannot practice in other states are coming here. Why you ask?

Easy the Texas Medical Board does not revoke their licenses. Nationwide Doctors have 10% of the licenses taken away, but in Texas it is only 5%.

It is a travesty, it is a tragic reality of a Governor that is more excited about winning an election that actually governing the State he has been a Governor of.

The legislature has tried since 1990 to get a handle on this Board, without an ability to do so. As with many situations, the board is Governor Appointed. It has a small budget according to those on it, and they are “not in business to revoke licenses”.

Perry has replaced four of the Forensic Board, but this board is fit as a fiddle to him as well as TxDOT. Perry’s lack of leadership is hurting Texans, literally. Why would any parent want to take their kid to a pediatrician that has been convicted of trading sex for prescriptions?

Look I am not perfect, I am no brain scientist but I do think Democrat or Republican we want Doctors convicted of Sexual Misconduct to be unable to practice in Texas. For me it is a grievous misuse of power and authority. If Perry can’t clean it up then get somebody in who will try to do something about it.

The details of the story begin in 2002 that I know of, but they continue today. They will get worse because as we all know unless the truth is told, Perry is not going to fix it or even care to discuss it.

Dallas Morning News has detailed report HERE.

Budget Cuts

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Texas Politics | Posted on 09-10-2009

Yes I know this is a conservative Texas politics blog. But there are many households and businesses in Texas that have made budget cuts, many deep cuts. The fact that Dell signed a deal with Perot before he laid off 905 in North Carolina is not lost on me.

I live in one of “those counties”. When a person came to speak out how great and prosperous the state of Texas was, we noticed this dark spot in the middle of the state. I have looked at enough Texas sized maps to recognize if that is not our county it is the county next to us. Another grassroots local next to me said, you know that looks like our county, I agreed. Sure enough our county is economically depressed, not deeply but if you look around we are hurting. The local big employer laid off hundreds, many businesses are not hiring. Many could and will lay off more people this month that live in our county.

I will admit those are the working people, our population is filled with able bodied people with no job, and no intention of getting one while continuing to stay on food stamps and welfare. I should note here these people are of all races, don’t be thinking I am a calling out one race.

The reality of what we as a county endure is not easy, it will not be fixed by running from truths, hard truths. In the past we had an employer that would become a powerhouse a few years later, and that began the decline of our economic losses. Until the county and the state of Texas start to understand budget cuts, we cannot and will not recover.

Until we say hey those people over there gaining hundreds of dollars of food stamps, those people over there we are paying to have more kids, hey my almost ninety year old Father in law still earning money through farming and paying through the nose for property taxes and income taxes is a dying breed, we have not faced the great big elephant in the room.

Stop spending money, stop wasting money, start looking at ways to cut expenses, and ways to save money for the county and the state. We don’t have a choice, the state and county will run out of money, the writing is on the wall. Don’t blame DC if you are wasting money in the state or county, I don’t want to hear it. It isn’t DC’s fault Texas is wasting money, millions on TTC. That is one example there are hundreds I could detail. We have to got to look past ” DC is bad”, and do something.

Texas and local counties had better get in line or we will end up like Nolanville. That is not a threat it is a reality, every budget has a bottom line.

60 Million

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in TxDOT | Posted on 08-10-2009

At first glance $60 million is the number TxDOT spent on TTC. Texas tax dollars spent from day one were being protested. But the number is deceptive, $60 Million was only the part of the TTC that was killed. $131 Million is what TxDOT has spent thus far, and remember none of that money has actually built a road. None has expanded I35 or maintained the existing roads.

Until Perry is out of office, TxDOT is cleaned from Top to near bottom nobody should rest assured that TTC will not grow an ugly dragon out of it. TxDOT is filled with inept people at the top, I happen to know many employed by TxDOT on a low level. They do their job, and leave the politics behind. But the Commissioners are beyond hope, they need to be fired. Perry needs to be fired.

Nope the announcement has not calmed my fears about the need to “Make Texas History” by Perry. Rick Perry has had years and millions to back off, but he hasn’t. Even when the State House and Senate voted to kill TTC, Perry kept funding it.

Hank Gilbert had the quote of the day for me on TTC.

“Vampires die quicker than Rick Perry’s transportation policy,” he said.

TTC has been like a D list actor finally scoring a death scene, every which way, every moment.

Remember that TxDot has not killed all of TTC, only the big portion of it on I35. I69 will be built by Cintra Zachry.

Details of the money are found HERE.

This is one of the reasons I am supporting Kay Bailey Hutchison for Governor.

TTC Dead

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in TxDOT | Posted on 07-10-2009

That is what I was told last night. This time maybe for a while, they would have to begin the entire thing all over again. If you think I am relieved you would be wrong.

What is around the corner? Why does it take seven long years for the pig headed Perry and TxDOT to understand TTC was not a Texas friendly idea? Why after finally these years did they actually give up? Sorry but history with Perry has taught me not to trust the face value of anything!

That and the fact that when Dunk was one, we actually had more lanes on I35 between Waco and Dallas. TxDOT has spent millions in waste, while real roads, extra lanes have been needed. Locally an expansion has been ditched by TxDOT, one that was planned for over five years. Now they just aren’t going to do it.

What are they doing then? Their budget is in the millions, what are they spending money on in 2009 and 2010? TxDOT needs to be scrapped, it has to be completely overhauled from top to bottom. There is too much money and ability for abuse.

What I know is any expansion with a toll road from Dallas to anywhere is gone, the contract is null and void with Cintra Zachry, but remember they have already applied for federal money for I69.Cintra Zachry is the contractor.

One thing I know for sure, it is not what you know but what you don’t know that troubles you. What I know is what they have said, what I don’t know is what is TxDOT’s next big idea, or for that matter Perry’s grand scheme to mark Texas forever.

Rest assured I am committed to finding the facts!

Here are the Details of TTC Dead HERE.

Justice in Question

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Texas Governor | Posted on 04-10-2009

This post I never hoped to post. It was a post I had hoping Perry would allow something to be looked out, fixed and allow the horrific truths to come out or not.

If only that had happened, if only Perry had done what he has done in countless of other situations, reappoint the existing people and let it go. God knows Perry has done it many times with people that should be fired.

What am I talking about? A man was executed by the state of Texas, but forensic evidence says it may or may not have been a mistake. The New York Times has covered it, every major paper has covered it. Until Perry made the replacement of the people that had started the investigation and found some problems in it, I had hoped one time Perry would ignore the “heavy handed politics” and let something work through the system.

I don’t know the specifics, or let me say I am not going to look into them. Frankly right now all I can do is bring it up and pray. I don’t know enough to rattle off anything other than look at this.

HERE.

Here is the Wall Street Journal article Look HERE.

I do feel like Bradley was put between a rock and hard place, I don’t know him at all but I would hope he would look into this. But Bradley took the appointment knowing the pressure of this execution.

That and the fact many very conservative people have valid reasons for not supporting Perry. I consider myself very hard on crime, but I also strongly believe in the appeal system when it works.

Open Government

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in TxDOT | Posted on 24-09-2009

I live in a school district that the fairly new superintendent did a great thing. He opened up the checkbook. They post the registry online for every school tax payer to see. What I know since I started this blog is it is not what you know that costs millions of dollars of tax payer money, it is what you don’t know. Imagine if you could read every bill, look at every local, state and national government checkbook. You could follow the money all so easily, we would not need groups that file, request and calculate the money trail.

We would all know what the “govt” knows. It is a big issue with me, as is a fair tax or flat tax. I want to know where the moula is, what are spending so much money on. What dept is overspending our tax dollars?

In other words, Show me The MONEY.

I am posting this video as a follow up of The Sunset Commission. As Hubby says, Toll roads allow TxDot to hide money, otherwise they would not want them. The one thing I know is TxDot does not want to show me the money. Matter of fact I think they didn’t want to show the Sunset Commission the money either.

Sunset Commission

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in TxDOT | Posted on 22-09-2009

The Texas Sunset Commission job is to go through Texas government waste Dept by Dept. There is not enough hours in the day for them to weed out what is wrong and over crossing of money, and time and laws.

Here is what they did last secession. Look HERE.

Before you slam them for not doing enough, remember they are doing something. They are dealing with groups that may or may not tell the truth. I will never forget being at a school board meeting when I heard a complete presentation that was a lie, I was told the board has to listen to what is presented. The Sunset Commission is allowed to dig deeper but it all depends on what the Department is willing to say, show or illuminate.

TXDot has not been a truthful group, and I say that because I have watched video that even the board says so.

So you know there are people out there looking out for us. Lois Kolkhorst is one of my favorites, she knows first hand what Tx Dot is willing to do. Linda Harper-Brown is riveting and articulate.

There are two videos but I promise, once you watch one you want to watch the other one. Part one starts the process of how they will toll an existing road.

Part two goes into the lying, total disregard for the legislature trying to keep TXDot for the people of Texas.
