The Israel Trip

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Rick Perry | Posted on 31-10-2009

I would love to think the Israel trip was for a good reason, but watch this video then tell me if you think Texans are getting jobs from this tell me where the Israel based company is hiring in Texas, I have plenty of family that need work.

The Link is HERE. It is a good report using what “Freedom of Information Act” they could. Transparency is good for Texans, it allows us to see what is really costing us in real money.

Help Me

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Rick Perry | Posted on 27-10-2009

I have a problem, my name is Kathy I hope you can help me. I live in a county with an over 10% unemployment rate. I know the government is out there, they keep taxing me. Right now my Hubby has a job, but very soon he may be layed off. I have a Governor that is out of state telling everyone how great the state is. Yet he hasn’t been to this county in years and I live only an hour away.

Every Urban Republican keeps saying I am expecting too much from the governor, that I am I wrong. They tell me my state and my Governor is the best ever. I should be glad he is in New York, at NASDAQ and fancy fundraiser dinners. He is working for me they tell me. Yet I see people unable to find work, unable to pay the mortgage bills, and utility bills.

Do I live in a state like Michigan or do I live in Texas? Sadly I live in Texas. It is not the Texas I know, I have never lived in Texas when the unemployment rate is 10% and the Governor running for re-election doesn’t see the need to come by. I live in a county where many are looking for work, where many are trying to work. But their mortgage is here, not in San Antonio. They could not sell their house if they wanted to, who would buy it in a 10% unemployment rate?

Rick Perry showing off in New York City doesn’t impress me at all. He needs to speak to Texans Out of Work, if he can’t find any in Texas he is running from them. We have a twenty two year high of employment and that was last month. It is higher now than in September. Many are scheduled to go off in October, Congressman Carter seems to know that and he works in DC. Perry has put his head in the sand, and sadly anyone telling me he is perfect need to talk to the unemployed unable to find work. Texans want to work, but are unable to find work.

Look at all the places he could go to find the Unemployed. Look HERE.

Rick Perry Comes Clean

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Rick Perry, Texas Governor | Posted on 24-10-2009

So as Terri Hall said Prop #11 does not keep people like Perry from taking land for whatever use they want for it. This video is revealing because at the end he speaks of water in San Antonio. The water he may be referring to is our private water in my county. On land that the state doesn’t own, but several private land owners have spent a lot of money developing into perfect grazing and farm land. San Antonio is the one growing, let them figure it out. Our tax base will not be helped if we are robbed of potential profit in a county where the unemployment rate is over 10%. That is not protecting Texans, that is robbing Texans.

Irony Arson Style

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Rick Perry | Posted on 20-10-2009

This caught my eye. As I have said before I will never know if Willingham was guilty or not. Perry has made sure that any questions will not be answered for a long time if never. Justice is supposed to blind and impartial.

His real Job

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Rick Perry | Posted on 14-10-2009

Hubby along with the rest of the USA is facing a possible layoff. As we have said for years his job is his real job, it is the one with a pension, great benefits and a weekly salary. When Gator (middle son) was a young tike, it was time for Hubby to find benefits. We could no longer afford healthcare for two kids and ourselves, as well as life insurance and the other gracious benefits that Hubby’s company has given him.

It doesn’t mean the company is bad, actually the company had options to lay off more sooner but did not. They reorganized, streamlined and kept going. We don’t think he will be in the cut but he could be. The long term outlook from the company is not good, they see the economy struggling for more than a year. I think from what I see locally they are correct. Anytime we are trying to raise funds, our donations are down between 15% to 20%. The company is only cutting jobs 10% nationwide.

Texans are hurting, it is not immune to job loss. Men and women I know have yet to find jobs in Texas. Anyone who thinks Texas is immune from the recession has their head in the clouds, they obviously have not come to our county in years. I guess if you are too busy flying to Israel and Sweden,  driving to a county an hour away from Austin is just too far to make a pitstop. Which is why this video will not be forgotten anytime soon by me! If Perry thinks for one second that any worker in Texas feels recession-proof he is an out of touch.

Unfit Doctors in Texas

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Rick Perry, Texas Governor | Posted on 12-10-2009

When I first read about this I was sure my brain was not reading it correctly. Texas Doctors have been arrested and convicted of sexual misconduct but still practice in Texas.

Matter of fact we are so lax on those practicing medicine with convictions many doctors who cannot practice in other states are coming here. Why you ask?

Easy the Texas Medical Board does not revoke their licenses. Nationwide Doctors have 10% of the licenses taken away, but in Texas it is only 5%.

It is a travesty, it is a tragic reality of a Governor that is more excited about winning an election that actually governing the State he has been a Governor of.

The legislature has tried since 1990 to get a handle on this Board, without an ability to do so. As with many situations, the board is Governor Appointed. It has a small budget according to those on it, and they are “not in business to revoke licenses”.

Perry has replaced four of the Forensic Board, but this board is fit as a fiddle to him as well as TxDOT. Perry’s lack of leadership is hurting Texans, literally. Why would any parent want to take their kid to a pediatrician that has been convicted of trading sex for prescriptions?

Look I am not perfect, I am no brain scientist but I do think Democrat or Republican we want Doctors convicted of Sexual Misconduct to be unable to practice in Texas. For me it is a grievous misuse of power and authority. If Perry can’t clean it up then get somebody in who will try to do something about it.

The details of the story begin in 2002 that I know of, but they continue today. They will get worse because as we all know unless the truth is told, Perry is not going to fix it or even care to discuss it.

Dallas Morning News has detailed report HERE.

12,000

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Rick Perry, Texas Governor | Posted on 05-10-2009

That is the number of Texans that will lose unemployment benefits by the middle of October. 12,000 are still trying to find work in Texas, otherwise they would not be on unemployment. There are many more companies in Texas that hunkered down, but soon they will have to bite the bullet and lay off more workers.

By the end of the year 55,000 will hit the end of benefits. In Texas you can talk to all the rubber chicken dinners you want to, wear fancy tailored suits but if you don’t actually do something about Texans losing jobs you are worthless to this Texan.

What irks me is how many times Perry has toured the world while Texans are struggling to keep what jobs they have. If he spent a fraction of time on jobs in Texas vs building his resume I would feel differently. Remember the unemployed vote heavily.

This quote of Texas being recession proof haunts me, where is this guy living? Oh yeah in a house our taxes pay for!

Did I mention I am supporting Kay Bailey Hutchison? Well now you know why!

Grassroots

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Rick Perry | Posted on 28-09-2009

Grassroot Politics is what the Texas Republican Party used to be good at. Neighbors asking neighbors for support for state representation, not as a Governor but as a State Representative. If you are not represented by somebody paying the same type of property taxes, business taxes you are not confident in state politics. Grassroots is built from the ground up, hence the word grass.

It is not paid pundits, strategists or senior staff. It is the neighbor you know working quietly and hopefully in a way to make sure everyone knows your representative’s views and desires. If you don’t have it the first number to show on a ticket is the decline of state representatives of either party. It is not a surprise that our State representatives are declining under Tina Benkiser. Despite how much people would tell me she was grassroots, her unabashed need to seek power either at RNC or the Perry campaign speaks to her selling out of any grassroots.

She was not going to win in 2010, mainly because if you can’t get lower down elected no one cares who the Governor is. She has been almost beat more than once as Texas Republican Chair, Tina was out the door and I believe she knew it. Her only hope of Power is to keep Rick Perry in office, so she has something on her resume.

Tina has lead us from 88 to a 76 number in the house of State Representatives, which if my simple grassroots mind is correct is a loss on a local level. Which means the locals running for a Republican office will have a difficult time.

Pathetic, if you ask me that you would call Rick Perry governing for 9 years a victory when he won by 39% in 2006. Hang your hat on that nail and it will fall, Perry is not what most conservatives believe deep down a true conservative. Not when you look at his full record, his total disregard for Texans with TTC, HPV Mandates and the first institution of a Business Tax.

Tina is nothing more than Dwayne Horner, a paid staffer pretending to be grassroots while cashing the check and trashing other Republicans on the ticket. The more they try to say they are grassroots the less Perry looks like a viable candidate in a general election.

Tina will take her Rolodex, but trust me she has many enemies. Before Saturday I had allowed Tina a pass, others have told me for three cycles she was a huge mistake.

Her leaving was not well known, I would have heard wind of it. What it tells me is Perry is still ready to do anything to win. Tina being on his staff may not help him as much as he thinks, but that is no surprise grassroots he left during 2003.

Now as true grassroots we have to rebuild the party while Tina is paid to tear part of it down.

Two Texases?

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Rick Perry | Posted on 26-09-2009

One where unemployment is the highest in  twenty two years. One where over 50,000 Texans will lose any help or assistance from being unemployed. One where more job losses are coming, those losing benefits will be unable to pay mortgages. Those unemployed in Texas right now are struggling to find companies hiring within a long range of their homes. You won’t see these Texans wearing French Cuffs, eating fancy dinners, or sitting in plush box seats at an Aggie game. They are lucky to eat a bowl of cereal for dinner. Trust me I know many Texans doing just that every night for supper. They have no other choice, they did their job but the company folded, layed off or went bankrupt. These same Texans are the backbone of our state, they need and want jobs. They need and want respect for what they have done, what they are doing and what they will do.

My heart breaks knowing these men and women struggle each and every day to find a job, to pay their mortgage or feed their kids. There but the Grace of God go I.

The Proof of this Texas is HERE.

Then there is the Texas where you get a $10,000 housing allowance, you make deals that only you seem to be able to know about. Land that you own skyrockets, real estate deals that most never even knew existed somehow drop in your lap. Your son works for the company that does the Texas Lottery, your wife works for a non-profit with Texas government ties. Oh yeah you travel the world paid for by Texans. You have been to Iraq, Istanbul, Israel, Sweden, Afghanistan and so on.  But today you are in Kaufman county, suddenly you will be around the little Texans for a only a brief moment. I am sure there is a DC meeting with movers and shakers on the agenda later down the pike. When it comes to your income you state you are a public servant with a house in College Station (ignore the previous tax problems), just doing your job.

Proof Cotton Farming doesn’t pay but a Governorship does is HERE.

The first Texas I know and see every day as I move through my life knowing many first hand that cannot find a job in Texas, and they lost their job because of no fault of their own. The second Texas is something I only read about, most of the legislature people I know have to have two and three other jobs to pay the bills. Everyone I know in Texas is struggling to pay utility bills, mortgages and property taxes except Rick Perry.

But you are in Luck if you contact one of Perry’s Hired Goons you can meet Perry today and eat BBQ. Don’t show up if you don’t contact Dwayne Horner. You can find it on the link.

Me? I don’t live in Kaufman County, and I have work to do. Goat to haul, laundry to do, kitchen to clean, kids to raise. Yeah I don’t have a personal staff either.

Words that Stick

Posted by brazosconservative | Posted in Rick Perry | Posted on 21-09-2009

Any campaign can put out information that will hurt the other candidate, it is the common way to do a campaign. How you know something is sticking is when you see no other response, no actual answer to a quote. Despite what a few Perry supporters have said, my gut tells me there is no real video of what he said that would show him differently. Either it doesn’t exist or isn’t as great as they all say it is.

Considering he for a split second said this in Houston a stone’s throw from Crystal Beach where many have yet to recover, The unemployment rate in Houston is over 8 percent, Look HERE. It is still the news of the moment on the governor’s race, the fact that he did well at the Voter Values has no bearing on voting Texans. Perry can deliver a great speech, no one I know will argue that.

What Perry doesn’t do is relate to real Texans, his fancy boots are props. They are boots, not working boots. He has left the mainstream conservative voter a long time ago. The mothers of the girls he wanted to give a STD vaccine at age 11 have not forgotten. Those still trying to find a job have not forgotten his claims that “Texas is better off”, if so please Governor show us the jobs.

I had thought this might stick, but since I know the Perry campaign works overtime to spin the bad publicity I expected a flashy tape of the speech that was different. When it didn’t come out, the truth of “What Recession?” still burns. This man has been our Governor for nine years, he can offer no excuse.
